JUDD C. OSTROM Areas of expertise:
BUSINESS BACKGROUND Mr. Ostrom is President of J. C. Ostrom Associates, LLC, a firm providing valuation and related financial consulting services to clients in the media and entertainment industries. He has more than 25 years of experience in corporate finance, valuation, and financial planning and analysis and has held senior level management positions with firms in diverse sectors. He directs projects involving business enterprise valuation and purchase price allocation. He provides business advisory services including financial statement analysis, cash flow forecasting, market studies, competitive strategies, rate/pricing strategies, and rate regulation issues. He also provides expert testimony in connection with litigation, regulatory proceedings and legislative initiatives. Before forming J. C. Ostrom Associates, Mr. Ostrom was a Principal with Barakat & Chamberlin, Inc., an economic and management consulting firm based in Oakland, CA. In this position he directed the firm's media and entertainment practice and provided valuation and related financial consulting services. Before joining Barakat & Chamberlin, Mr. Ostrom served as Vice President of Kagan Media Appraisals, Inc., a company providing valuation and financial consulting services to the media and entertainment industries. In this position he conducted business enterprise valuations and purchase price allocations of media and entertainment companies. He also participated in numerous consulting assignments related to the economics of investments in media and entertainment companies. In addition, he provided analytical commentary for a number of Kagan publications. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Mr. Ostrom has extensive experience in state and local tax issues. He is an expert in the valuation of intangible assets. He has provided fairness opinions in connection with partnership buyouts as well as purchase price allocations for financial reporting and federal tax purposes. He has provided valuation and analytical support to industry associations at the state level as well as companies involved in local property tax appeals and litigation. Mr. Ostrom has made presentations to public and private associations and has served as a moderator and panelist at industry seminars. Mr. Ostrom has been instrumental in raising debt and equity financing for and in the financial restructuring of public and private companies. He has also developed and implemented cash management systems and operating and capital budgeting systems for large corporations as well as smaller startup companies. EDUCATION Mr. Ostrom holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Utah (Dean’s Scholar, Beta Gamma Sigma, Phi Kappa Phi) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Massachusetts. He has supplemented these degree programs with an ongoing program of continuing education through participation in courses and seminars sponsored by industry, professional and academic institutions. He is an associate member of the Broadband Tax Professionals Institute, and is a candidate member of the American Society of Appraisers, Business Valuation Discipline.
